Filberts Fine Foods Win the Wessex Region Countryside Alliance Rural Enterprise Award.

Filbert’s Fine Foods are celebrating another win: the Wessex Region Countryside Alliance Award for Rural Enterprise. The Countryside Alliance Awards, known as the Rural Oscars, have named Filbert’s Fine Foods as the winner of their Rural Enterprise Award for the Wessex Region.

With 12 regions spanning the UK, and awards offered in four categories: Local Food, Village Shop / Post Office, Enterprise and Butcher, the Countryside Alliance judges have certainly been very busy. They said of Mr Filbert’s:

“This is a fresh, lively and vibrant enterprise which is a breath of fresh air to the way rural businesses run. Filberts launched in 2010 with a huge passion for food and ingredients and an ingenious design for flavouring nuts – air roasted – rather than deep fried, to cater for the more health-aware market. Filberts have developed a range which reflects the produce of Dorset, with honey from Sherborne Beekeepers Club and wild garlic from within the county, they make the most of what Dorset has to offer, which is a huge amount.  They are also at the forefront of promoting Dorset as a food destination by starting up ‘Delicious Dorset’, a group of artisan producers working together, looking at how they can collectively support and promote the produce of Dorset. Plans are already underway for the London Olympics in 2012 when Filberts will have the opportunity to promote their products to a global market. This is enterprise at its finest; always eyeing the gaps in the market and really going for it.

“We are so thrilled” said Mark Taylor MD and creator of Filbert’s Fine Foods. “We only launched in July 2010, and have worked really hard to make Mr Filbert’s the fabulous food brand that it is today, and there is so much more to come.”   “The award is a great achievement not only for the Filbert’s team, but for everyone from our local suppliers and business support network to the retailers who stock the brand, and the customers who clearly enjoy the products.” This award follows on from a suite of taste and innovation awards and praise in the Food and Fine Food press:
